Ngā Kōrerorero
Ngā kōrerorero is about having conversations, listening to stories, speeches or information. It’s about speaking and listening to others. This to and fro’ is not about talking one way but embracing the opportunity to connect with each other.

I te tīmatanga te Kupu, i te Atua te Kupu, ko te Atua anō te Kupu. I te Atua anō tēnei Kupu i te tīmatanga.
In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. From the very beginning the Word was with God.
Whakarongo/Titiro Mai (Listen/Watch)
The karanga to welcome is accompanied by this karakia (prayer):

Ngā mea waihanga (Create)
Make a Christmas tree using natural branches, sticks and wooden stakes. Over the coming weeks we’ll offer a practice of making decorations to add to your tree using natural and recycled items. This tree is made from bamboo, toitoi, & harakeke.
He Whakaaroaro (Reflect)
There are always many words at this time of year. Some words are familiar to us and we hear them in Christmas songs, carols and hymns. Some words are full of commercialism and pressure as advertisers try to convince us to buy our way through the season. There are words in emails, phone calls and facetime calls with family and friends that we only see once a year. There are end of year words at functions and parties. There are words of opinion about Christmas. There’s no shortage of words. Amongst all the noise and bustle of this time of year, our word today invites us to pause. It reminds us to shut out the noise and engage with others in meaningful kōrerorero.
Whakahokia mai (Respond)
Hold a kōrerorero today with someone about their hopes and dreams for this coming Christmas. Really listen to the other person before you offer an opinion or thought.

Haere mai, e te Kaiwhakaora e ora nei,
haere mai ki tāu ao e tatari nei ki a koe.

Come, O come Emmanuel,
you are the way, the truth and the life;
Come, living Saviour
come to your world which waits for you.
